Having the ability to put fast and accurate hits on a threat is what will save you if you are ever forced to use your firearm in a defensive encounter. Intuitive Self Protection’s firearms training focuses not only on proven marksmanship skillsets but also how to actually fight with your firearm in dynamic real-world everyday environments.
Just like our Empty Hand and Edged Weapon training pipelines, our core firearm courses have 3 levels along with some long gun and specialty courses that we throw into the mix. We also offer an industry leading Online Schoolhouse, Concealed Carry Certification, as well as offer a very in-depth Instructor Certification Program. Although we offer an array of courses, our 3-level training program focuses primarily on fighting with a pistol. The reason for this is because that is the platform you are more than likely going have on you when you are out in society. Rifles and other long guns are awesome to fight with, but you likely do not regularly carry one around with you. However, you can, and should, legally carry a concealed pistol.

The skills that are taught in our firearms courses have been forged in actual real-world operations, on multiple continents, by some of the most elite Military and Law Enforcement units that keep our country safe every day. In our Protective Pistol Level 1 course you will learn the “how” to perform and operate your pistol in a multitude of environments based on the course theme. These themes center around environments you live in every day. Environments such as dealing with crowds during an Active Shooter event, defending yourself in and around vehicles, and how to defend yourself while in your home or any other building structure. In this course you will learn skills and concepts such as:
Mindset versus technique.
How you properly grip your weapon.
Trigger control.
Rapid sight acquisition.
Rapid engagements from ready positions and off “X” skills.
Recoil control to develop an efficient shooting skill set.
Effective carry positions (both concealed and open carry).
Mastering the draw stroke.
Two-handed, strong hand only, and support hand only shooting.
How to engage targets that are not in their initial field of view from the draw.
Gun manipulations during various types of reloads and malfunctions.
Two-handed manipulations and malfunctions clearing.
Problems associated with reloading and clearing malfunctions related to dynamic handgun operation.
Shooting to and from cover and concealment.
Transition to various unorthodox shooting positions.
Transitioning from one point of cover to another.
Increasing speed, efficiency, and overall shooting capability.

In our Protective Pistol Level 2 course we pick-up right where Level 1 ends but ramp it up in a big way! You will take the skills you learned in level 1, plus a few new ones, and elevate them to a much more cohesive and dynamic gunfighting package. Due to the dynamic nature of our courses, in order to attend level 2 you must be able to safely demonstrate the fundamental skills from level 1 and be cleared to attend by ISP. This means that we don’t just push you through a program to get your money, say “you’re good”, hand you a certificate, and leave you out in the cold. We care about all our students and invest the time to ensure that the skills we teach them are engrained and able to be recalled in a high stress environment. That also means that you are required to do your part, put in the work, and do the reps.

Because our level 1 course is so comprehensive, it is not uncommon to have students take it multiple times before they are ready to move up to level 2. It all depends on your skillset and how much time and practice you’re willing to put in. In a fight for your life situation, a certificate will not save you, only the skills that you’ve mastered will.
