Unleashing Your Potential: The Power of Plank Holder Membership

In today’s world, we have so many things that we need to be prepared for and our personal and family security is one of them. Many people are seeking a one-stop shop for professional solutions and we believe at Intuitive Self Protection, that we provide them. Here is the highly requested video by you guys out there, talking about what’s included in the ISP membership and what people are getting out of it from the perspective of a member.

Hank (Interviewer): All right, we’re here with Brian Hickey, an Intuitive Self Protection Plank Holder. The Plank Holder is the top tier, all access membership, which allows someone to participate in all 27 of our courses in a year. These classes include our integrated fighting system where we cover rifle, pistol, edge weapon, empty hand training. How long have you been training?

Brian (Member): Since March 2022, so a little over a year. It's been incredible.

Brian is behind the shooter learning to shoot through the V Pillar.

Hank: Tell us a little bit about yourself. What was it like when you started? Why did you start?

Brian: I’m from New Hampshire and I am a small business owner. The first course I took was the Empty Hand Course, and it was awesome. I've always wanted to train from a tactical standpoint, and being able to train with you and your team has been life-changing.

Want to become an All Access (Plank Holder) Member??

Hank: So, for someone to drive 10 hours from New Hampshire to train with us, there’s gotta be something on the other side of that. What's the value you get from the Intuitive Self Protection integrated fighting system?

Brian: The value is that it’s life changing. It doesn’t just from a tactical standpoint of self-protection, but it applies to every facet of life. It helps with family, being a business owner, and relationships. Through stress inoculations, it teaches you how to handle things in life and be tactical in different situations. The relationships with you and your team have been awesome. That is why I drive 10 hours and show up every month.

Hank: I’ve noticed a shift in your personality since you started training. When you first came in, you were like a freaking bulldog and now you’re still a bulldog but controlled and directed. Could you speak to that a bit?

Brian: Going through the evolution process with ISP, being put in stress inoculation situations, seeing things from different perspectives and using different practical applications, has allowed me to channel my energy and apply it in a more controlled and more calmly. It has given me more self-esteem and self-confidence in being able to apply what I’ve learned more tactically.

Brian is shooting from an unorthodox shooting position using the vehicle as cover.

Hank: So let’s talk about a specific discipline. How has your draw stroke improved over time?

Brian:  The disciplines in the basic applications to be able to apply six basic principles have changed my pistol evolution. By following those disciplines and practicing on your own, you’re gonna improve. There is no question, you’ll have success whether it’s in your pistol craft, your edged weapon, your empty handcraft, or your carbine craft.

Hank: We have an integrated system where everything flows together. Now that you’ve done a number of  iterations of a number of the different disciplines, how has your integrating them come together for you?

Brian: When you're in an athletic stance, whether it's empty hands, edged weapons, or firearms, the same disciplines and positioning are used. The amazing part is applying them in combatives. Most training isn't giving you the combative side, knowing what's a threat and that you have to come at it from a threat perspective. It’s a totally different view and perspective than most training; a totally different mindset.

Brian is doing a retention shooting technique while framing an on coming strike.

Hank: Now that you're in your second year as a Plank Holder, what’s happening for you?

Brian: In the first year, I wanted to immerse myself in every course. In the second year, I'm building on that foundation and applying basic disciplines and principles. It's about honing the craft and becoming more efficient in any combative situation.

Hank: What would you say to someone considering ISP for a one-off course or membership?

Brian: I would emphasize commitment. I think ultimately the membership level is like a family where we help each other grow. The one-off is great and a good way for you to try it but the membership is what’s gonna immerse you so you get the necessary successes and wins you want.

Hank: Commitment drives consistency, follow through and results.
